Craig Mountain firewood sale begins September 1st

Idaho Fish and Game is selling firewood permits for the harvest of dead and dying timber on the Craig Mountain WMA. The sale will begin September 1st and will end October 31st. Areas open to harvest are Fish and Game owned land within 100ft of open roads. One gate will be opened to allow better access (see attached map).

Firewood permits must be on your person during harvest and can be obtained at the Fish and Game office in Lewiston. Permits cost $10/chord and are limited to 5 chords per household. Just a reminder, since Craig Mountain WMA has several different agencies and private individuals who manage and own property up there, firewood cutters must know who’s land they are on and must have the correct permit to harvest wood. Each agency has their own permit. Firewood cutters are not allowed to drive vehicles off the main roads to access wood. Violations will be strictly enforced.
