Pilot car operations planned tonight on SH-55 near Banks

ITD is planning to reopen SH-55 to one-lane with pilot car operations and flaggers.

The Idaho Transportation Department is planning to reopen State Highway 55 near Banks to one-lane alternating traffic with flaggers and a pilot car beginning at 8 p.m. tonight as fire operations continue in the area.

Travelers should expect significant delays while traveling through the area. Motorists heading north of Cascade should consider using U.S. Highway 95 as an alternate route to help reduce congestion for local traffic.

Fire activity remains dynamic and may require temporary traffic stops as crews continue working in the area. Conditions can change quickly, and travelers should slow down, follow directions from traffic control, and watch for emergency personnel and equipment along the highway.

Travelers are encouraged to check Idaho 511 for the latest road conditions before traveling.
