Semi-Truck Fire Results in Traffic Delays
ADA COUNTY, Idaho – Idaho State Police is investigating a semi-truck fire that occurred at 7:06 PM on Monday, August 31, 2026, at milemarker 71 on I84 westbound, east of Boise.
A 1993 Freightliner semi-truck hauling cattle, driven by a 27-year-old male from Mountain Home, Idaho, was traveling westbound on I84 when a fire started in the engine compartment, fully engulfing the semi cab.
The driver was not injured.
Traffic was delayed for approximately five hours.
Idaho State Police was assisted by Elmore County Sheriff’s Office, Orchard Combat Training Center Fire, the East Boise Port of Entry, and nearby good Samaritans.
