Two Vehicle Crash Results in One Fatality Near New Plymouth
PAYETTE COUNTY, Idaho – Idaho State Police (ISP) is investigating a two-vehicle collision that occurred on August 25th, 2026, at approximately 5:30 PM at the intersection of US30 and SE 2nd Ave, South of New Plymouth.
A 2020 Toyota Tacoma with a trailer, driven by a 25-year-old woman and a juvenile passenger, both from New Plymouth, and a 1994 Yamaha XJ600 motorcycle, ridden by a 33-year-old male, also from New Plymouth, were travelling Northbound on US30. The Tacoma slowed to turn Westbound onto SE 2nd Ave. The Yamaha, in an attempt to avoid the Tacoma, crossed the center line into oncoming traffic before it collided with the driver side of the pickup.
The Yamaha rider was critically injured and transported by air ambulance to a local hospital. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on August 30th, 2026. The occupants of the Tacoma were not injured. The driver of the Tacoma was wearing a seatbelt, the juvenile was properly secured in a car seat, and the Yamaha rider was wearing a helmet.
US30 in both directions was blocked for approximately one hour, allowing emergency responders to assist those involved and clear the scene.
This incident remains under investigation by ISP.
